@bailiescoffee - Honduras Johelyta - Kalita wave 155 
Finca Johelyta is located near the Honduran border with El Salvador, a tropical micro-climate that is very favourable for slow maturation of the cherries. The owner, Mirna, started coffee farming as a way to provide for her family and named the farm after her first daughter Johely. With meticulous work she has managed to improve quality and therefore increase her income which Mirna has proudly used to fund a scholarship for her children at a local bilingual school.

Process

The cherries have been hand-picked and carefully brought to the wet mill. They were quickly rinsed and then the cherry skin removed. The beans in parchment with sticky mucilage still attached are then spread out in a thin layer onto concrete patios and dried over the course of 10 days.

belakangan ini saya lagi senang menyeduh pakai tetra drip rilisan @munieq.jp. awalnya saya beli dripper ini semata karena desainnya unik dan karena merasa butuh alat seduh pour-over yang mudah dibawa ke mana-mana.

pada dasarnya, tetra drip adalah penetes (dripper) seperti hario v60. hanya bentuknya lebih sophisticated dan bisa dibongkar-pasang sehingga gampang dikantongin buat mobile.

kesimpulan setelah hampir sepuluh gelas kopi terakhir saya seduh pakai tetra drip, waktu seduh (brewing time) di tetra drip lebih panjang dibandingkan v60; dengan catatan dosis bubuk kopi dan jumlah air yang dituang sama. misalnya jika menyeduh 15 gram bubuk kopi dengan 225 gram air butuh waktu 2 menitan di v60 hingga ekstraksi selesai, maka di tetra drip bisa 3 menit lebih.

hasilnya, ekstraksi lewat tetra drip menjadi lebih intens dan kuat di semua aspek: keasaman (acidity), rasa manis (sweetness), dan kekentalan (body). kalau ingin menyeduh pakai tetra drip dan mau mendapatkan waktu seduh yang sama dengan v60, ukuran giling bubuk kopi harus dibuat lebih kasar.

bagaimana soal konsistensi? menurut saya lebih mudah menjaga konsistensi di v60 karena bentuk penampang dinding yang lebih melingkar (circular) sehingga memudahkan kontrol turbulensi air saat menyeduh. kalau di tetra drip, karena bentuknya prisma jadi lebih sulit kontrol gerak airnya, walhasil rasa di tiap seduhan bisa sangat berbeda.

My prediction of a 2nd place finish was correct! Congrats to Victoria from @propagandacoffee for her win in the Western Regional Aeropress Competition. 
But I am still going to Nationals. And now the trend is 4th, 3rd, 2nd and now 1st, right? Unless Victoria beats me again. 
One of the best parts was winning one of these AMAZING Comadante hand grinders, which I will be using in Nationals. I first heard about them because of @proudmarycoffee and hace wanted one for years. 
Thanks so much to @coffeepotluck for organising the event and bringing everyone together. Thanks also to @timbertrain @geniuscoffee @32lakes @cafeyvr @theamerican and everyone else who made it happen.
