Why a naturopathic approach to cholesterol is different to a medical one. A medical solution is called #LowCholesterolDiet
while a naturopathic solution is called #CholesterolLoweringDiet
Medicos want you to reduce the foods that CONTAIN cholesterol from your dietary intake. Their view is that if the cholesterol is in the food then it will end up in your blood.
Naturopaths and Nutritionist know that your body makes more cholesterol in a day than you could possibly ingest. So they don't think the food is the direct source of the cholesterol. The types of food that stimulate the body to produce the cholesterol is the true source. So if you reduce the foods that trigger cholesterol production, you reduce the amount of cholesterol in your blood. What food is this? #Transfats
trigger the liver to produce more cholesterol.
Let's be clear, cholesterol serves a purpose. It protects you from free radical damage. Not all fats are equal, however. Good fats, bad fats, evil empirical army fats.
There is no such thing as polyunsaturated margarine. There is margarine that is made from polyunsaturated oil. However, polyunsaturated oil is a liquid at room temperature and so it needs to be artificially saturated. Here is how the magic happens. It is heated to extreme temperatures (#denatured)
forcing hydrogen atoms to attach to carbon atoms using nickel, cadmium or palladium as a catalyst (yes, all toxic heavy metals) and you end up with a lovely black sludge. Can't sell that though, black sludge is gross, so you just bleach it, add in some colours, flavours and synthetic vitamins and its ready for the shelves. Packed full of free radicals, mind you.
